Tahoe Fire & Fuels TeamDefend Your Tahoe Home Against Fire

Free Community Help

Numerous free programs that can help you create defensible space are available in each fire service area of the Tahoe Basin. Everything from a free dump day for pine needles and cleared brush to a curbside visit by a chipping machine for downed limbs and trees may be available in your area. Click here.

But the most important free help you can get is a defensible space inspection and a copy of the Living With Fire - A Guide for the Homeowner: Lake Tahoe Basin. While fire services play an important role, creating defensible space is the responsibility of you and your neighbors. And working together with neighbors is a great way to reduce costs. The Nevada Fire Safe Council , serving both the California and Nevada sides of the Tahoe Basin, is staffed by experts on neighborhood organizing. Your neighborhood can become a Fire Safe Chapter to get even more free help.
